Will Clark
Nappy: It sure was good running into you at IML. There I was sitting and sucking on a beer and I said to Tim, "I think I know that handsome man over there" and it was you. You looking good. How have you been? How is 40 years old treating you. You look great.
Will: I love 40! I love it so much I may not move from this spot. Most
porn stars stall their ages at 29, I think I'm staying at 40! :) LOL I had a lot
of anxiety coming up to 40 but once the day arrived, well, I can't believe how
many wonderful, hot, sexy men I've been meeting... and a lot of them are in
their 20s... it's hilarious that suddenly I'm like this "older man" which is
apparently a kind of fetish with really cute, smart guys in their 20s.... had I
known this, I would have turned 40 a long time ago!
N: The last time we sat down and chatted Nappyheadedboy was just starting. I
can't believe that that was years ago. You're in New York now. You like it?
W: Love it. It's home for me.. I missed it the past five years while I lived in WeHo. The city has changed in some ways for the better (cleaner, friendlier) and for the worse (anything even remotely sexually related has been stamped out) but it's part of me and has been since the first time I visited nearly 20 years ago.
N: You're doing a weekly show in New York. I passed the bar when I
was there in February 2004. The bar is right down the street from La Belle Vie,
this great French restuarant. Tell me about the show. I know it's fabulous.
W: Thanks.. it IS fabulous... It's a weekly live show at the View which is a bar right on the stretch on 8th Avenue in the heart of Chelsea. Each week I bring on a combination of folks from the community to sit with me and yak about their work - I have had a lot of music talent throughout the past six months as well as drag queens, gay authors, DJs, porn stars and much much more. The thing about the show that I'm particularly happy about is that every week I bring on a community non profit which we're able to use as a springboard for discussion.. just last week I featured The Wedding Party www.theweddingparty.org (gay marriage) Dan Carlson from www.hivforumnyc.org (the group responsible for working up anti crystal meth ad campaigns) and the NY Foundling Hospital www.nyfoundling.org (a Catholic based hospital located in Chelsea as well and we focused on gay adoptions). There's no cover a
I had gotten pretty burnt out doing Cocktails with the Stars in WeHo for three years and needed a break pretty badly.... and when I moved here to New York, I was eager to get a show started but didn't want to do something that is exclusively porn stars or sex industry folks... and it's really nice to be able to introduce new talent to people who come to the show every week.
N: Do you remember the first Gay Porn video you ever saw? Mine was a
video starring Al Parker. I don't remember the namel, but I remember Al
Parker. I loved him.
W:
Oh it was Stryker's BIGGER THAN LIFE... I saw it in a bar in San Francisco
and while I wasn't much into Stryker himself, I really got into the bodybuilders
fucking in the subway car in one scene. In an "only in San Francisco" story, I
borrowed the tape from my boss at a law firm where I was working at the time.
N: Your last video was "Red Star" directed by Chris Ward over at Raging
Stallion in San Francisco. Are they not the best people in the world?
W: They are fantastic... it's sorta like working with family. :)

N: How was this year's Bad Boys Pool Party? How did all of that come to
be? I love being a small part of that every year.
W:
It went better than I could have hoped and certainly better than I
expected it to go... everyone pulled together and made the event a truly
memorable event...!
N: Let's talk porn. Do you think that porn has changed? We as Gay men
sure have. Bareback porn is the biggest thing now. I was having a this debate
with a guy the other day. I was trying to explain to him that there is a big
difference between "Bareback" and "Precondom".
W: I always think that if someone like Al Parker knew in the 70s that using a condom would save his life, I think that he would have taken those precautions. In his biography he writes as he is ill and dying that he watches his old videos and wonders if he's watching the exact moment when he became infected. It's a chilling passage. I guess however, I classify "precondom" as porn when people didn't know any better. The "bareback" porn of today, we DO know better and it's particularly sad that it's being made much less that it's so in vogue.
N: Seeing anyone special? I can't believe that some man hasn't snatched
you up. What's up with that?
W: Well, I'm always working.. good luck someone catching up with me!
N: How does Will Clark relax?
W:
Hmmm I'll have to get back to you on that one!
N: You're coming to Seattle soon. It's been awhile. You think we're
ready for a leg of your Red Star Tour? What can we expect?
W: The event at Club Z was a blast - lots of great guys who learned all about a lot of great ways to make safer sex even more erotic.. I think we've lost the ability to appreciate the full spectrum of what sex can be and instead think it's only about fucking.
On into the future, I'm hoping to bring my one man show to Seattle.. we'll see
what happens!
N: Can we expect a video soon starring Will Clark?
W:
Working on it..
N: Is there someone out there you're dying to work with?
W:
Oh, lots of choices, Diego de la Hoya, Rob Romoni, Tag Adams are three that
come immediately to mind. The hazzards of doing so many events is that I know a
lot of the guys a little too well and it can get a little weird thinking of them
in a sexual way... LOL
N: What's your favorite meal?
W: Chicken .. mmm mmm mmmm
N: Will I see you at Folsom?
W: I haven't made any concrete plans yet but I suspect so!
